Hydraulic Pistons Secured by Express Air Freight
Royale International’s Time Critical experts create a seamless transit for your aerospace shipments. Our rapid logistics solutions mitigate risk caused by Aircraft on Ground situations worldwide. The case below highlights a shipment of rubber seals that were required for a client’s hydraulic pistons.
How do missing rubber seals cause Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations?
A Singaporean logistics partner requested a time sensitive delivery of rubber seal support for hydraulic pistons on an aircraft to Australia. Rubber seals serve as a barrier from contaminants getting inside the pistons as well as a lubricant that prevents pressure peaks when the aircraft is in motion. Ultimately, this delivery would support several aircrafts’ hydraulic systems.
Why hydraulic pistons require Time Critical services?
AOG situations are costly. The missing rubber seals value over USD 15,000, and the cost would continue to increase as the aircraft remained grounded. The delivery needed to get across 4,400km (or about 2700 miles) within the next 48 hours to minimise operational costs.
Additionally, the shipment would need to be placed onto the next flight. However, due to the timing of the request being very late in the day, it would be difficult to lodge the shipment after booking a flight from Singapore to Australia.
Finally, proper documentation and client approval is paramount when shipments are time sensitive. The team needed to get approval for the Master Airway Bill (MAWB) before shipment collection, but as the time to pick-up was getting closer, approval was still pending.
How did Royale’s logistics expertise support this AOG situation?
Our Time Critical solutions entail accredited logistics services and Dedicated Account Managers that properly handle and secure various aerospace shipments. - Royale collected the 9kg package (or about 20 pounds) of rubber seals at 10pm
- Despite not having the MAWB approval two hours before the collection, Royale’s Time Critical experts pro-actively followed up for approval
- In addition to getting the approval, the team leveraged their local resources to catch the cut-off time (i.e., 4am)
- Royale’s longstanding partnership with major airlines supported the last-minute purchase of a direct route space from Singapore (i.e., Changi Airport) to Australia (i.e., Darwin International Airport). Additionally, our team obtained priority lodging for our package
- Upon landing, documentation support by our experts ensured a smooth clearance and drop-off at the hangar shortly after
